Meta Platform Limits

Some issues users encounter aren't caused by Ads Uploader. They're Meta platform limitations. This page explains the most common ones and how to work around them.

Structural Limits

Meta enforces hard limits on how many objects you can have per account:

LimitMaximumWhat Happens
Ads per ad set50Creation fails with a validation error
Ad sets per campaign200Creation fails with a validation error
Active campaigns5,000Varies by account

Tip: Before creating ads in bulk, check how many ads already exist in your target ad set. If you're close to the 50-ad limit, consider creating a new ad set.

Rate Limiting

Rate limiting is not something we see often, but it can happen. Meta's rate limits are based on a combination of your user profile, ad account, and recent activity. Accounts with a longer history and consistent activity tend to have higher rate limits.

If you do hit a rate limit, Ads Uploader will detect it and automatically wait before retrying. You'll see a banner indicating that a rate limit was reached.

How to Reduce the Chance of Rate Limiting

  1. Create in reasonable batches - 10-20 ads at a time is a safe range
  2. Space out large operations - Wait a few minutes between batches
  3. Close Ads Manager - Having Ads Manager open while creating ads counts against the same rate limit

Special Ad Category Restrictions

Campaigns in Special Ad Categories (housing, employment, credit, social issues) have additional restrictions imposed by Meta:

  • Some Advantage+ targeting options are disabled
  • Age, gender, and zip code targeting may be restricted
  • Certain interest-based audiences are unavailable

These restrictions are enforced by Meta's API and cannot be bypassed. If you see errors related to targeting in Special Ad Category campaigns, verify your targeting settings comply with Meta's policies.

Ads Not Appearing in Ads Manager

Ads created through Ads Uploader typically appear in Meta Ads Manager right away. If they don't show up immediately, they usually appear within 5-15 minutes.

Where to Look First

New ads tend to show up at the Ads level in Ads Manager before they appear at the ad set level. If you're browsing by ad set and don't see anything yet, try switching to the Ads view instead.

Another option is to edit the campaign in Ads Manager. Sometimes new ad sets and ads appear in the campaign build view before they show up in the reporting view.

Refreshing Ads Manager

Clicking the refresh button inside Ads Manager isn't always enough. Do a full browser refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R, or the browser's reload button) to force Ads Manager to reload completely.

Check Your Filters

Ads Manager may be filtering by date range, status, or delivery that excludes your new ads. Try removing all filters or switching to the "All ads" view.

Confirming Successful Creation

If Ads Uploader showed successful creation in the activity monitor, the ads were definitively uploaded to Meta. At that point it's a matter of Ads Manager catching up.

Meta Outages

Meta's platform occasionally experiences outages or degraded performance. If you see a "please try again in a few minutes" message, it's likely a temporary Meta issue.
